Hypnosis for Childbirth – ‘Hypnobirthing’
I was a practising midwife when I became pregnant with my first child and had been involved in many births. I recognised how different they all were and how affected parents and their baby were by the experience, some very positively but others, sadly, negatively. I realised that those who had the most positive experience were the ones who had confidence in their body, who were sure of what they wanted and mostly, but not always, had a natural birth with minimum intervention.
When I became pregnant I decided I wanted as natural a birth as possible, and acknowledging that pain relief may be the obstacle to that I decided to learn self- hypnotherapy taught by my GP – the best investment I have ever made! Not only did it start me on my journey as a hypnotherapist it also helped me to have 3 wonderful, joyful experiences birthing my three children.
I gained my Hypnobirthing Certificate from the RCM accredited Natal Hypnotherapy in 2012 and have since had the pleasure to work with many couples.
I have extensive knowledge and personal experience in all things childbirth – from my qualification and practice as a midwife to birthing 3 children; from qualifying as a hypnobirthing practitioner to having the privelege to be present at the births of 3 of my grandchildren, putting my knowledge into practice and supporting my daughter as her birth partner.
